Happy New Years!

Happy New Years Everyone!

How was the year 20008 for music?? We were lucky enough to see the beginning of a Britney comeback as well as a New Kids on The Block reunion, with rumors of the Spice Girls having one more go as well. Is this a sign of things to come, the old is en vogue once more, reliving the glorious 90's?

I myself was not blown away but much new music in 2008. I am a big fan of Senses Fail - Life is Not a Waiting Room. I must say the concert at Higher Ground in Burlington, VT was great as well. A good mix of songs off of all cd's. Buddy did seem to be in a bad mood though, saying he was "too old for this sh*t" and making fun of the hippies in VT, without the majority of the crowd getting the jokes. Bad crowd, good show! And sorry I have no pictures to add to the site :(

The other music that changed me in 2008 was I got into Say Anything. Just another band complaining about girls right? Well they do it in a catchy way inspired by neurotic lyrics, and I would love to go see them when I get the chance. In the mean time check out this girl singing Woe with an ukulele, pure awesome.

One other cd I did find quite fun was The Loved Ones - Build and Burn. Just some good punk rock, I recommend the song Louisiana.

For me not a ground breaking year for cds and did not get a chance to see much live music because of moving around the country, but its been a great year!

Look forward to many more site improvements in the next year and a plethera of new bands, pictures, ratings and .... more to come.

Have a great New Years!!

1 week old!!

iwasthere turned 1 week old today!!! So far it has been great! Thanks to everyone signing up and adding content! It's the users that are going to make the site work.

It was a big week for hammering out bugs, and although some still exist, a lot of the big ones are now fixed!

What's next? Well there are big plans in place for new features and upgrades but for right now, the focus is on growing content. I am looking to partner with some local music as well as get content from some of my favorite artists!

Support your local music!! Even the largest bands started playing small gigs somewhere! It's all about the love of music and that's the goal of the site. Coldplay may sell a billion cd's but some high school kids in your town may rock out on the stage more than them! Let us know and spread the word of the small guys too!

Website Launch!

Hey All,

Thanks for checking out the iwasthere blog! Make sure to subscribe! We are very excited because today was our launch!

The goal of iwasthere is to rate a band based on their concerts. The idea was born after I attended the Rage Against the Machine reunion concert April 2007 at the Coachella festival in Indio, California. For days/weeks afterwards all I did was look for videos on YouTube, check out Myspace and read blogs... bascially anywhere I could read what others were saying about the concert, checking out their pictures/videos, and reliving the moment! Then the idea was born to have one central site to do this. Some time later here it is!!

There are some great bands out there who put out great cds, but when you go to their concert, they are boring! Whats up with that? And there are some bands, maybe they aren't the most talented, but their show "melts faces" as we like to say. I am not sure there is any better concert than a Flogging Molly's show! If you have not been to one, check them out if you get the chance.

So we are here to promote bands and live music. Get out there, support some local bands and have a good time!

We are in Beta so there are still some kinks to work out. We would love to hear any comments, bugs, suggestions, hate mail, praise, ideas, etc. Send them all my way. Email info@iwastheremusic.com

Cheers n Beers
